
The “Dongjin Cup” 2026 Chengdu Jintang Triathlon World Cup officially kicked off on May 9 in Jintang County, Chengdu, marking a major event in the triathlon calendar.
The two-day competition features individual races and mixed team relay events. The individual race attracted 130 professional athletes from 30 countries and regions, including Australia, Canada, and China. The mixed team relay saw 13 strong teams, such as those from Australia, France, and Spain, competing side by side.
On the first day, the individual race took center stage. It was divided into elite men’s and women’s categories, with a total race distance of 25.75 kilometers. Top athletes battled fiercely. In the men’s elite category, Australia’s Luke Willian claimed the title with a time of 50 minutes and 14 seconds. France’s Nils Serre Gehri took silver, and Canada’s Tyler Mislawchuk secured bronze. In the women’s elite category, Germany’s Laura Lindemann won the gold in 55 minutes and 27 seconds. Neutral athlete Valentina Riasova came in second, while Great Britain’s Kate Waugh finished third.

Jintang has long been a hub for triathlon events, earning recognition from the International Triathlon Union as a “Gold Host City for the Triathlon World Cup” and a “City with Outstanding Contributions to the Global Development of Triathlon.” This year’s event featured for the first time a “four-race synergy,” including not only the two World Cup races but also the 2026 China Jintang Triathlon.
