Cesc Fàbregas has no intention of leaving Como despite recent speculation linking him with the vacant Chelsea job. The Spanish coach insists he is fully focused on his current role and the team’s upcoming Serie A fixture against Genoa.
Como have not won a match since March 22, a drought stretching over a month, and suffered a harsh setback days ago when they were eliminated in the Coppa Italia semifinals after Inter Milan overturned a 2-0 deficit in just minutes.
Despite the poor run, Fàbregas remains one of the most sought-after young managers in European football. With Chelsea’s managerial seat open, rumors have naturally intensified. However, the Catalan coach brushed aside the speculation in his pre-match press conference.
“I have nothing to say because I haven’t heard anything from the president. You mention it, but I know nothing about it. It would be silly to think about things that aren’t important right now—that doesn’t concern me. What matters is Genoa, the next match, and we want to do everything possible to win. I think I will continue to be the coach of Como. My experience as a player gives me calmness,” Fàbregas said.
Como are still in the fight for a Champions League spot, and Fàbregas wants no distractions. The former Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder currently has a contract with Como until 2028 and is also a minority shareholder in the club.
