Moscow-based football club Rodina intends to play its home fixtures in the Russian Premier League (RPL) at the Arena Khimki, according to the club’s sporting director Alexei Zinin. He confirmed to journalists that the team will stick with their current home ground after securing direct promotion to the top flight.
“We are currently considering the Arena Khimki for our home matches, just as we do now. No changes are planned. We train on artificial turf and will continue to play on it,” Zinin said.
Rodina secured their first-ever promotion to the elite division of Russian football after a 2-0 victory over Chelyabinsk in the 33rd round of the First League (Liga Pari). Ivan Timoshenko opened the scoring in the 25th minute, and Artur Garibyan doubled the lead in the 87th minute. The match, played at Arena Khimki in front of 3,345 spectators, confirmed Rodina’s direct rise to the RPL.
Founded in 2015, Rodina will debut in the Premier League next season, marking a historic milestone for the young club.
