Adrián Fuentes scored his second double of the season last Saturday in Castellón, helping Córdoba extend their winning streak to five consecutive victories, as highlighted by the @Canalblanquiverde account this morning.
His first double came in late October against Albacete, where the forward from Atocha once again proved decisive for Iván Ania’s side, securing three crucial points. This season, Fuentes has contributed 14 goals to the blanquiverde cause.
That tally speaks volumes in his favor. He has already surpassed the player who arrived in Córdoba in the summer of 2021 from Murcia, following a monumental collapse in the last season of Segunda B history. In the newly created Segunda Federación, he showcased his physical dominance, becoming one of the key figures in a rapid promotion with 13 goals. It’s worth noting that he was playing on the right wing, on his weaker foot at that time.
In the following season, in Primera Federación, he stayed with Córdoba until January 2023. Then, a lack of playing time and overtures from Castellón prompted his departure from Germán Crespo’s squad. Before his move to Castalia—where he had little impact—the striker scored just two goals. At that point, he was not playing as a center-forward either.
His exit from El Arcángel didn’t bring the expected results, at least during his stint with Lugo. In the 23-24 season, he failed to score, forcing him to start over at Tarazona. There, everything changed, starting with his role as a center-forward. In Primera Federación, he had a standout campaign, netting 16 goals—his best personal record.
That performance reignited interest from professional football, including Córdoba.

A free transfer led to a second stint, and this season he has become one of the most pleasant surprises in La Liga Hypermotion. This is backed by his 14 goals, surpassing his previous best as a blanquiverde and bringing him close to milestones like equaling his total goals in the Guadalquivir region or his aforementioned personal record. With four games remaining against Granada, Albacete, Eibar, and Huesca, he has plenty of opportunities. But perhaps the most important thing is that he has rediscovered his scoring touch.
Despite the season being ongoing, Fuentes insists, “I would have signed for this at the start of the season with my eyes closed, but what matters is helping the team.” He recalled, “I’ve had clear chances and missed them, but I’m still finding the net.” He stressed, “If not with goals, then through hard work, effort, and sacrifice.” This has sparked talk about his future, as the club wants to renew his contract, but his name is starting to surface in the transfer market.

On the collective front, he recognizes the team is on a hot streak because “it’s all about momentum.” That has prevented Córdoba from climbing higher, as “we had a bad spell where we struggled for eight weeks, and now we’ve had five straight wins, which the coach said we hadn’t done before.” Though slim, Córdoba still has a glimmer of hope, but Fuentes clarifies, “We’ll take it game by game.”
